You’re ready to get help – now what? Sometimes figuring out the level of care needed to treat your eating disorder can be difficult to navigate. At Selah House, we use an initial assessment to best understand your unique and comprehensive needs. Through this assessment, we can determine the level of care that will best help you in recovering from your eating disorder.
Selah House provides clients with a clear step-down process in care, so they have guided help throughout treatment and after they return home. We offer multiple levels of care that include:
- Inpatient Hospitalization
- Residential
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
- Aftercare
What is inpatient hospitalization?
Inpatient hospitalization is the most intensive level of care at Selah House and offers 24/7 medical care, nursing supervision, and medical management. Clients in inpatient care require medical stabilization and monitoring because of their eating disorder.
Signs indicating inpatient hospitalization is needed include:
- Unstable or depressed vital signs
- Complications due to coexisting medical problems
- Self-harm
- Unable to control restricting or purging behaviors without constant supervision
- Rapidly worsening symptoms
- Lab findings indicating acute risk
At Selah House, clients in inpatient hospitalization can participate in therapeutic interventions that include individual and group sessions. Clients are continuously supported by their medical and treatment team to address any complications that may accompany their eating disorder.
What is residential care?
Residential care offers clients a step-down level of care from inpatient care or an alternative for those who are medically stable but need a highly structured 24-hour treatment environment with medical and psychiatric supervision. In residential care at Selah House, clients find physical and psychological healing through a comprehensive evidence-based approach designed to meet their medical, nutritional, psychological, spiritual, social, and emotional needs. Clients progress through their customized treatment plans comprised of a combination of treatment modalities that include:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Experiential Therapies
- Equine Therapy
- Art Therapy
- Body Image Improvement
- Yoga/Mindfulness
- Spirituality
- Group Therapy
These therapeutic techniques help clients process the underlying issues relating to their eating disorder, as well as learn practical skills to support recovery and transition into life outside of treatment.
What is PHP?
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is our lowest level of care and is an excellent step-down option from residential care or an alternative for those who require a less intense care option. Unlike other PHP programs, at Selah House, our program is a full 7 days a week and includes lodging. Clients are in programming throughout the day and have supported meals and snacks. In the evening, they have the opportunity to practice their recovery skills with less support to gain confidence before returning to “real life.” The support and guidance clients receive in PHP helps them to continue to focus on developing and practicing their recovery skills and to make healthy decisions outside of the confines of treatment.
What is aftercare?
Leaving treatment is often a difficult step in long-term recovery. Aftercare at Selah House provides the continued love and support so many clients need once they leave treatment. Our comprehensive aftercare plan ensures clients a connection to a support team once they are home, including finding a therapist and registered dietitian in their local community. We also remain connected with clients through phone calls and emails from our alumni coordinator and continue to offer resources, encouragement, and self-care tips.
Selah House is Different

Within each level of care, clients are given a customized treatment plan that meets their unique goals and specific goals for recovery.
