Chaplain
Christina Zile, IFOC
Chris has served as the director of a women’s shelter under the auspices of the Church of God, is a Bible study leader, and has been a featured speaker for women at Christian retreats. Her passion is seeing people restored and redeemed through a vibrant and personal relationship with Christ. It is her great joy to “walk along beside” those who come for freedom and to proclaim the good news of the gospel. She states, “In my own experience, I realized I could not free myself from the addictions that bound me. I was imprisoned by my alcoholism and other unhealthy ways of coping, which did not bring relief from the ghosts of a childhood that crippled me emotionally. Then, Christ found me and that has made all the difference. Any of us who have stories of redemption are eyewitnesses to the power of God to heal. Life with Christ is not about rules and regulations – it’s about the relationship with the lover of our souls, who just happens to be the Creator of the universe. How lovely?” Chris earned her Associates in Applied Science in 1983 from Ivy Tech Community college and has worked in the Mental Health/Social Service fields for 25 years. Most recently, she has been ordained as a Senior Chaplain in the International Fellowship of Chaplains.

Director of Nursing
Mary Atkins, RN
Mary graduated in 2006 with an ASN in nursing. She was a nurse in the ER for most of her nursing career, and she worked as a resource nurse for three years. This meant that she could float to any floor in the hospital, but loved critical care, both cardiac and regular ICU. Mary worked as a hospice nurse briefly as well prior to finding Selah House. She was at a crossroad, looking for a meaningful way to effect patients and their families longer than the length of a hospital stay. Selah provided that opportunity for Mary. She won’t say that she’s never had a more fulfilling job because they’ve all been amazing for where she was in that time of her life. Mary will say that she’s never had a more fulfilling job where she knows every single day there are women out there that she’s touched. She enjoys being a part of an amazing team that gives each patient their life back after an eating disorder has taken it away. There’s such a joy in watching the transformation from the first day of treatment until they go home. Mary’s goal for this department is to maintain a safe, rewarding, and loving atmosphere where patients and nurses alike feel a sense of being a part of a team that makes a difference. She wants her nurses to have meaningful interactions with clients that are often difficult to have time for in the hustle of other nursing disciplines.
Director of Nutrition Services

At Selah, she works with clients to develop meal plans that are appropriate for each client’s specific treatment and nutritional needs. These meal plans help empower clients to process and overcome fears and anxiety surrounding food. Utilizing the all-foods-fit model and Intuitive Eating Principles, she helps clients learn about balance, variety, and moderation for a healthy lifestyle. Beyond the meal plans, Rachel helps clients learn food preparation and meal planning skills through individual sessions and groups. For example, she works with clients as they participate in meal and grocery challenges, and in the weekly cooking group. These provide an opportunity for our clients to build trust with their body and confidence in their own ability to receive adequate nutrition. Her favorite aspect of working at Selah House is seeing clients develop a new understanding and trust with their body, nutrition, and food.
