With a societal obsession over ideal body shape and size, it is not surprising that 20 million women suffer from an eating disorder. However, many of those do not seek treatment due to embarrassment, denial, or confusion surrounding their symptoms. As we see a shift in our culture that pushes us to break the stigma surrounding mental illness and raise awareness, it is important to know that recovery from an eating disorder is possible. Seeking treatment is one of the most difficult steps to take, but Selah House understands the challenge and is here to help.

What Makes Selah House Different?

Selah House is the only licensed inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization program (PHP) eating disorder treatment center in Indiana. Our women’s eating disorder treatment program provides a serene, healing environment that helps those suffering walk into freedom and restore their life. A comprehensive program is customized for women and teenage girls (16+) who suffer from eating disorders and other co-occurring body-related issues such as:

  • Anorexia Nervosa
  • Bulimia
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder
  • Compulsive Exercise
  • Otherwise Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED)

Christ-Centered Treatment

At Selah House, we believe that each woman was made in the image of God, and we regard every person as a spiritual being on a human journey. We treat the whole being with therapeutic psychiatric, medical, and nutritional care that supports women physically, spiritually, and emotionally during their eating disorder recovery. Regardless of faith, we meet each person where they are in their journey in an open and accepting environment without judgement. Our goal is to lead clients into wholeness and help them identify how God and spirituality relate to the journey of recovery as they find a fulfilling life free from their eating disorder.

Clinically-Excellent Programming

Our clinicians use an evidence-based approach that contributes to healing and transformation. Our specialized therapies, including individual and group sessions, meet the medical, nutritional, psychological, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of each client. Working with the client, we customize a treatment plan that comprises a combination of treatment modalities that empower them as they are engaged and informed in their treatment experiences. Our modalities include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Experiential Therapies
    • Equine Therapy
    • Art Therapy
    • Body Image Improvement
    • Yoga/Mindfulness
    • Spirituality/Selah Group
    • Group Therapy

Continuum of Care

At Selah House, our goal is to make each woman feel as safe and close to home as possible. All levels of care are conducted in comfortable and home-like settings. Our residential campus overlooks the White River and offers a serene environment for healing. Our partial hospitalization program campus sits on 65-acres of Indiana farmland, which also houses our Equine Therapy Program. Both locations offer areas for group gatherings and private spaces for mediation and reflection.

Our levels of care are designed to offer a clear step-down process so each woman feels supported through her journey.

  • Inpatient Treatment: Structured 24-hour care focusing on medical stabilization, weight restoration, and psychiatric support.
  • Residential Treatment: Step-down option for those needing less intense treatment, with 24-hour care, as well as medical and psychiatric supervision.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): A less intense and structured option for those who are ready to practice recovery outside of a controlled treatment environment.

Aftercare

Selah House provides continued love and support as each woman makes the transition back into everyday life. Our goal is sustained recovery and ensuring seamless continuity of care as the foundation. We help each client, and their families learn the needed skills to help prepare for the transition to life after treatment. Through comprehensive aftercare planning, we ensure there is a connection to a support team at home, including finding a therapist and dietician in the local community. We also remain connected and offer resources, encouragement, and self-care tips as continued support.

At Selah House, we believe that you can walk into freedom from an eating disorder, and we want to ensure that no one ever feels they are alone in their struggle. As one of the most comprehensive women’s eating disorder treatment centers in Indiana, we provide complete care that guides our clients to recovery.
