Healing Through Relaxation & Connection
At Selah, we believe that healing is enriched by fun and the development of healthy relationships. Our relaxation time relieves stress — especially during activities involving food or emotional processing. As part of your individual treatment plan, you’ll enjoy dedicated moments for rest in our cozy homes and the serene countryside.
Our campuses feature wooded areas, spacious pastures, a pond, and hammocks nestled in beautiful gardens, providing a tranquil setting for rejuvenation. Relaxation can also come from shared experiences, like games, group meals, movie nights, and other activities that foster connection. Healing flourishes in a safe, accepting environment where you can unwind and bond with others on similar journeys.
The Selah Journey
Our time together begins with a personalized conversation to help us tailor the best program for your needs. Once you are here, we are dedicated to supporting you physically, emotionally, and spiritually — every day.
Through our exceptional clinical team, specialized therapies, and group and individual counseling sessions, we create a safe and nurturing environment. This space allows you to rediscover yourself and sets the foundation for a successful, long-term recovery.
1. Initial conversation
The first step in your journey — often the most challenging — is contacting us at Selah House. Whether you are seeking information or ready to begin treatment, our compassionate staff is here to listen and support you. From your first email or phone call, you will experience our team’s genuine care and love as we walk alongside you on your path to recovery.
2. Assessment & cost
Our admissions team will conduct an initial assessment, either over the phone or in person, to understand your unique and comprehensive needs. We will schedule this conversation at a time that allows you to speak honestly and freely in a private, safe environment, addressing any personal and often challenging topics.
In addition to the assessment, we will contact your insurance providers to discuss your benefits. We are in-network with most major health insurance plans and will advocate on your behalf to create a detailed financial plan, ensuring you receive the care you need.
3. Arriving at Selah House
Arriving at Selah for your eating disorder therapy can bring a mix of emotions. While leaving your familiar surroundings can be challenging, it also marks the beginning of a fresh start. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a welcoming team eager to help you settle into your new home.
Our specialists will assist you in getting comfortable in your room and introduce you to fellow residents. You will complete any final paperwork and a comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluation, all while our supportive team is there to guide you every step of the way.
4. Life at Selah House
Your journey at Selah begins by fostering meaningful, authentic relationships with our staff and fellow clients. You will engage in various therapies, including art therapy, body image work, and equine therapy, along with purposefully designed activities and outings. You’ll find intentional time for rest, relaxation, and personal reflection amid laughter, fun, and camaraderie.
Support comes from multiple avenues, including individual and group therapy sessions. You’ll maintain regular communication with your family through phone calls, weekend visits, and family therapy sessions, ensuring you stay connected throughout your healing journey.
5. Treatment
Our high staff-to-patient ratios are essential for a successful recovery process at Selah. Our team of experts will guide you through a personalized treatment plan that combines various modalities to improve your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Our multi-disciplinary treatment teams include a psychiatrist, medical doctor, therapists, dietitian, nurse, equine specialist, chaplain, recovery care specialists, intake coordinator, and aftercare alumni coordinator. Each team member is dedicated to engaging with you compassionately and without judgment, ensuring a supportive environment throughout your journey.
Your individual therapy plan is collaboratively developed, incorporating your input and focusing on effective treatment interventions tailored to your needs. This personalized approach ensures you receive the support and strategies necessary for your recovery journey.
6. Commencement
Your last day at Selah is a moment of celebration! Our staff and fellow clients will be there to encourage and support you as you transition back home. We will develop a clear plan to continue your treatment at a lower level of care, connecting you with local support resources. When appropriate, we also spend time with your family to ensure everyone is prepared for your return, ensuring a smooth transition into the next chapter of your journey.
7. Aftercare
At Selah, we prioritize sustained recovery by equipping you with essential skills during treatment and offering step-down levels of care to ease your transition. Our step-down option allows you to practice these skills in a safe, supportive environment before returning home, ensuring you receive the highest level of assistance for lasting recovery.
Our comprehensive aftercare planning connects you with a support team in your local community, including finding a therapist and dietitian. Our ultimate goal is your ongoing recovery, and providing seamless continuity of care — as an alumni of our program — is at the heart of our approach.
8. Staying connected
Leaving Selah can be one of the most challenging steps in your journey toward lasting recovery as you transition from a space of continual love and support to the outside world. We understand this challenge and will prepare you for life after your Selah House journey.
We will continue to stay in touch, providing resources, encouragement, and self-care tips reinforcing the messages you received during your time with us. Contact us today at 765.819.2524 to learn more about Selah House and how we can support you.
